Congratulations on being pregnant (or a mother which ever is applicable at present) if that is what you want. Having children changes your life completely. From now on the interests of some one else is more important than your own.
You will find that raising a family is the most tiring, exhausting and most rewarding. The worry of child minding ever present. With two it can be a difficult time. As a single parent even more so.
Children are not yours. They are your responsibility. You should allow them to reach their full potential, and be supported in all their endeavours. You will of course do what is best for them, that is not always what is right.
It will be galling to receive advice from some one you consider a bad parent, but that is what you have been told. You have chosen to believe it.
My mistake was marrying a violent psychopath. I was under the impression she had mental health or hormone problems. For years I have had the guilt of deserting some one with mental health needs that can be cured or alleviated. A psychopath is not ill. They are not stupid. There is no cure. A psychopath only wants to dominate and control a less intelligent person by any means. There is no rational out come, just the overpowering need to control. If they have achieved this by words, those words are the truth, they have no concept of truth and lies, only what needs to be said to control. If control starts to slip, then violence is used. There is no scale to the violence, only the need to control. If more violence is needed so be it. Pauline's control over me, apart from the normal methods, was through you. When I left home in 93, I was brought back to the house, because YOU allegedly wanted me back. When you and Joanne left the house in 94, that was the end of her control over me.
Since then I have suffered the abuse of stalking and intimidation that is normal when a psychopath looses control. She tried and was very successful in ruining my life.
We were never suited. One of my bosses in the Navy commented that, Goggin is congenitally incapable of obeying orders. You must be aware that I can not follow a recipe, and every month of my 32 years as a Coastguard I was going to resign on principal, because I was instructed to do something, by way of an order. I always found a way round doing what I was told to do. Pauline must have thought I was a challenge.
You have decided to commit yourself to the Martel family. Bully for you.
Your commitment has had most the undesirable consequences for me. You were kept close because they needed your lies to justify their actions. Now the truth of what you have done, is more damaging to you. You have built a whole history on lies, and falsehoods, albeit well intentioned. Now you will be seen to be the villain, not them. You can be rest assured, that I will not be the one to ruin your life. I could have written, spread sedition and made your career difficult. I have not in the past and will not in the future. You are now tied to the that family of choice, for bad or worse.
One explanation given for your hatred, is religion. The end justifies the means! (very third Reich) You are all booked for heaven and I am condemn to eternal hell. Yeah, what ever.
I gave up Christianity 16 years before you were born. Even Islam makes more sense. I could never get my head round the trilogy thing, that justifies Jesus as god. You and Joanne have taken Jesus into your heart. Jesus the one god, the maker of heaven and earth. The one that determines life and how it works. And yet this all powerful god can not stop you lying and has no power over Pauline, Either god is not omnipotent, incompetent or does not exist.
The Bible (the word of god) is so badly crafted, so many flaws, and so contradictory as to be useless or worse. IF god wanted to talk to humans he (or She) would do it in a way that is truthful and unambiguous. God would write you an equation. Maths is the universal language of truth and discovery, not some bronze age text, rewritten with updated bigotry. So if you want to read the word of god read maths.
I never expect to see you or Joanne again. I have come to terms with never seeing or being involved in tending for grandchildren. For you a final warning. Children are inquisitive and often see through lies. Life is complicated enough without your children turning against you. By all means say that I fell out with you and will not contact you. But for your own sake give up the abusive father bullshit.
Bye the way, your grandmother died on 22 December 2014. She expressly wished that you and Joanne would not attend the funeral. She kept every single letter sent to her. All my postcards from abroad and all of your cards and letters, even the ones written at school. There are few from you from the age of 11. She never forgave you, and blamed Pauline for your wayward actions. She never forgot the phone call you made.
Her ashes are scattered at Melrose, a beautiful spot with wild deer, Hares and wild flowers. She would have preferred cabbages.
